Sky Caddie SGX
The latest bit of GPS kit to hit the market for 2010 is the Skycaddie SGX. Based firmly around the award winning SG5 unit the Skycaddie SGX heralds a new era in golf gps rangefinders. Tech savvy golfers now want more than just distance measuring device and it appears that the Skycaddy SGX ticks a lot of the right boxes. Lets take a look in detail what the SGX claims to offer: One handed dual navigation allows precision positioning of the screen cursors for enhanced accuracy and stops the screen getting dirty and smudged. Large 3 inch full colour display for easier viewing even in bright, direct sunlight. A high performance GPS aerial locks onto the positioning satellites and stays locked even under trees. This was something that could occasionally happen with past Skycaddie devices so lets hope that this problem has now been addressed. It is claimed that 30,000 courses have been preloaded onto the Skycaddie SGX, but this seems to be some sort of marketing ploy as they only contain basic course information and are only available on a 30 Day free trial unless you sign up to a membership plan. On the plus side the SGX can hold up to 50 fully featured mapped courses if you do join the Skycaddie Membership Plan. A feature that may appeal is the ability to track and score for every round that you play with the devices built in Score Card. You can now download the stats for each round onto your PC connect to the Skycaddie ClubSG online and carry out a comprehensive round analysis including putts taken, fairways hit and greens in regulations. |
